Agricultural films are new-age films used in modern farming technologies. They are made from a variety of plastic resins, such as different grades of polyethylene (PE), ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH). They are used as mulch and to cover silage bales. They are also used in greenhouses for controlling the temperature and moisture of soil, eliminating weeds, reducing the use of herbicides, storing and growing crops in greenhouses, and preventing soil erosion. However, owing to disposal and pollution hazards, they are being replaced by non-biodegradable alternatives.
